News flash: many women talk about sex. Mom don’t read this one.
Shocking I know. Women. Decent women. Ladies in fact. Talk about sex. And we do it openly and honestly. We tell each other our most risky adventures, how we were seduced by our partners, and if we’re really satisfied we brag (in a funny way) about just how lucky we are.
What’s weird is we’re brought up to believe that men do the talking. And they do, some of them. But the real talkers are the ladies. What’s that all about?
I know my wonderful mother is probably cringing as she reads this (sorry mom), because sex is an intimate experience shared between two people that love each other. Seriously mom, if you are reading this stop now. However, sex isn’t always an intimate experience shared between two people. Mom, are you still reading? You should stop. I’m not kidding. Anyway, sometimes sex is not intimate at all. Sometimes it’s primal. Sometimes it’s romantic. Sometimes it’s routine. Sometimes it’s SPECTACULAR. Sometimes it’s at home. Sometimes it’s outside. Sometimes it’s quick. Sometimes it’s an all night love session. And sometimes it just doesn’t happen. And for some, sometimes it’s with two or more people or objects, or two or more people and objects. Really the combinations in which one can have sex are endless.
What I realized is that if you don’t share your experiences and your friends don’t share theirs, then you’re never going to pass along tips that can help others and yourself make the sex an even better experience. Sharing about angles that work the best (aka the fastest, if you know what I mean), or how to get away with it in public (just kidding I would never do that), are important things to share with your girlfriends. But a lady never kisses and tells?
Bull shit. Obviously you don’t scream from the mountain top about ALL your sexual experiences, but when you’re having a girls night and the theme is Sex and the City, sharing makes not only for a good laugh, but also the opportunity for others to learn a thing or two.
Because as informative as 101 things you didn’t know about sex is, it’s your girlfriends that are the best source of info.
Besides, we all need to work at making sex less of a tabu subject. It’s as natural as eating, so why are we so frigid when it comes to talking about it? And since I’m on the subject, a woman who loves to have sex is not the S.L.U.T word. She’s just a woman. A satisfied woman.
