Red Velvet Barf

I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a Red Velvet Cupcake but I’m sure you’ve heard of them. They’ve been a super trendy treat that you could get in New York over the last few years. Everybody raves about them. And recently, the general public has begun to partake in this pretty looking cake.

Now, although this cake is tasty (kind of)…SPOILER ALERT…it’s pretty much just chocolate cake with red dye. OMG – What’s that all about? In fact, often the cake part is so dry that it makes your throat feel like the Sahara. Really, I think they are overrated. I actually was talking about them to a cupcake-shop-girl and she said the same thing; citing that not only are they dry, but they are just a fad.  The only saving graces for these cupcakes are:

  1. The cream cheese icing is killer, AND
  2. They are so damn pretty

So dear friends, next time you want to impress your friends…add a little red dye to your Betty Crocker Cake, buy some cream cheese icing and you’re the trendiest person on the block. Instant cool factor.

That said, below is a link to other Red Velvet items (cake battered onion rings/chicken fingers).

Wow…I sound like a total b-word. But when it comes to food – I don’t mess around.
