Hello Moms! It’s your favourite unsolicited advice columnist Jen Talks Too Much coming at you with some awesome friendly advice about…GIRLS NIGHT!!!!!!
Remember the days when we could impromptu have a wicked ladies night with no advanced warning? Remember those days? Well since all y’all moms decided to procreate our impromptu nights have come to a raging halt. And you know what sistas? We Non-Mom’s are ok with this. 100% ok with this. There are many reasons why we’re down with our new found scenario:
- Although we haven’t had kids yet, we too are affected by age. I’m exhausted on a Friday. Sometimes the thought of going out on a Friday makes me want to fake a headache. What’s that all about? Clearly I’m kidding. I would never fake a headache! I’m a lucky lucky girl.
- We’re so happy for you and your evolving life. Your babies are rad. I really like that you have a baby that I can hold and love and then give back to you when I no longer want to hold a baby.
- We understand your priorities are different. Ours are too. In some similar ways, and in some totally different ways.
- Children in their own right are pretty cool and damn funny so we understand why you’d rather be with your own spawn then hang out with some Old Bitty’s that don’t randomly spin and fall, and then do it again. Ummm well some of your Old Bitty friends may still do this – ex. me!
But the thing is, sometimes we want you all to ourselves where we can drink an extra glass of wine with you and giggle like we did in our early 20’s. And we know that if we are so lucky to get you for an entire night, we know that you’re going to be pumping. And that’s quite alright with us. Do it in front of us, do it in another room, do it before hand, in the middle, do it before bed. If it’s the difference between seeing you and not seeing you, you can pump all day long if you want to!
So the next time an invitation goes out for a Girls Night or Weekend, the new subject line must forever now be: Start pumping ladies, things are about to get wild!
