Sleepwalking is creepy. It’s a matter of fact that people who sleepwalk, when sleepwalking are scary, weird and I’ll say it again, C-REEPY. Another fact, I’m creepy – I’m a sleepwalker.
For the most part, those individuals lucky enough to share my bed or room are typically only exposed to my excessive sleeptalking, sleepyelling and sleepmumbling – yup, it’s true, I talk so much that I even talk in my sleep. Very, very seldom do I walk while unconscious. It is so rare and so random that I will often go years (nearly decades) without engaging in such strange activities.
So, after going seven years without a sleep-slipup, I have once again committed sleepcreepery.
It was a cool, fall-ish Monday night when my manfriend and I decided that we’d stay at his place for a change. We got cozied-up (his place is colder than mine) crawled into bed and put on the movie Big Fish. Within 20 minutes of watching, I jumped on a sheep and began sawing logs.
When I woke up in the morning feeling rested and ready for work, I noticed my dude looking at me funny. He then asked ‘Do you have any recollection of what happened last night?’
Being totally confused, I responded ‘I woke up and set my alarm’. Dude, then looked at me smirked and began to tell me what happened…
In the middle of the night, Dude woke up to sounds of shuffling going on in the corner of the room. When he sat up, he apparently saw me on all fours in the corner of his room. I’m assuming his internal thought at this point was ‘this chic is crazy’. He then asked me what I was doing. In my sleepwalking voice, I responded matter of fact-ly ‘I’m looking for wires’. What’s that all about? This is strange for many reasons:
- Why would I need wires?
- The corner of the room I was in doesn’t have any wires.
- Who sleep walks?
There I was on my hands and knees in the corner of his bedroom being the weirdest person he’s ever encountered. Poor, poor, poor man. He then asked me to come to bed and being the good obedient sleepwalker that I am, I replied ‘OK’, got back in to bed and tossed and turned until my body finally shut back down. Sleep. Creepy.
